Charlie Frye is the General Manager of the Orlando Office. Charlie assumed the role of General
Manager after completing a very successful 25 year career as a Naval Aviator. Charlie was
one of the first in the Navy to receive the sub-specialty code in Modeling and Simulation
as well as Operations Research. Charlie received the highest Department of Defense Program
Manager certification and was Program Manager for Micro-Simulator Program, one of the first
applications of gaming technology to support military training. Charlie has a BS in Engineering
and a MS in Operations Research.
Stephen Scanlon serves Novonics Corporation’s Orlando FL office as a Principal Project Engineer
and leads the Novonics Training Technology Laboratory (TTL). Mr. Scanlon is considered an
expert on Mobile Code Technologies as applied to the Web-based learning environment and an
expert on PC Simulation technologies as applied to the Navy Integrated Learning Environment
(ILE).
Stephen holds three Masters’ of Science Degrees: Management; Management Information Systems
(MIS); and Education Specialization (Ed.S). Additionally, Mr. Scanlon holds several Industry
IT Certifications:
• Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
• Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)
• Comptia A+ Certification (PC Hardware and Operating Systems)
• Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT)
As a Software Engineer, Data Base Administrator and Network Systems Engineer, Richard O. Barbre
provides design and development of web-based applications utilizing the latest Microsoft technologies
for the Novonics Training Technologies Laboratory (TTL), Mr. Barbre has received the Microsoft
Certified Systems Administrator, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and Microsoft Certified
Data Base Administrator certifications. Richard brings almost 20 years of computer programming,
software design and database development expertise to the Novonics Orlando TTL.
Oliver Manuel serves as the lead 3D Graphics Artist for the Novonics Corporation's Orlando
office. Using various 3D software and game-engine developing kits Oliver provides modeling
and animation for the current TTL development of training products, simulation, and web-based
projects.His background includes 3D character and environment creation, interface design,
story-boarding, and conceptual art for broadcast and real-time projects. Oliver has also taught
Art at the primary and secondary level after receiving a BS degree in Art Education from The
Florida State University and later went on to earn a Computer Animation degree from Full Sail.
Lissandra Clark serves as the Novonics TTL primary graphic artist. Lissandra earned her Bachelor
of Science degree from Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY and has come to
the sunny Florida Training Technology Lab after a few 'guest appearances' with other local
companies supporting the Department of Defense. Other than Lissandra's creative talents, website
design, Flash animations, and vector and raster graphics manipulation are in her areas of
expertise.
Amy Griffin serves Novonics Corporation's Orlando office as an Industrial/Organizational Psychologist.
Ms. Griffin's experience includes Human Performance Improvement (HPI), analytical modeling
and simulation, and computer-based training. Degrees held include a Master's of Science in
Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Central Florida, and a Bachelor's
in Psychology from the University of Florida. Certificates in training include Certified Process
Improvement Specialist, and all five training certificates under the American Society for
Training and Development (ASTD) HPI Certificate Program.
Twenty-nine years experience in providing engineering, communications, software engineering
and training services to the Department of Defense. Significant experience in the analysis,
design, implementation and delivery of cost effective training systems. Systems Engineering
background includes trainer system engineering and simulator/student interface design. Software
Engineering background includes modeling, object oriented design, development, integration
and testing of DOD intelligence simulations in support of and interfaces to real world intelligence
collection and processing systems. Logistical experience includes production of trainer engineering
reports, requirements traceability matrices, acceptance test procedures, instructor utilization
handbooks, computer software operator manuals, systems theory and operation, and production
of computer based instructional lessons. Lead responsibilities have included cost account
management, configuration management, project planning, manpower/cost estimates, and proposal
preparation activities. Projects have included numerous maintenance trainers, part task trainers,
flight simulators and constructive simulation projects.
Robin Linde brings thirteen years of professional instructional design experience to the Novonics
team. Her experience includes the design and management of computer-based training programs,
ranging from front-end needs analysis through the production cycle and final product evaluation.
She earned her master’s degree in instructional technology from the University of South Florida.
She has worked for numerous federal clients including Department of Homeland Security, Federal
Law Enforcement Training Center, Department of Justice, FEMA, US Attorney’s Office, and the
military. She has produced several award-winning instructional programs during her career.
Miles Carr serves the Orlando Operating Center as an Instructional Systems Designer / Instructional
Media Specialist with the TTL team. Previously, Miles was supporting the TTL team as a contractor
with Novonics. He will continue to support Commander Naval Installation Command (CNIC) products,
as well as Defense Acquisition University (DAU), Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR)
and Department of Homeland Security training design and media development efforts. He has
nearly four years of ISD experience along with a background in IS/IT, Audio and Visual Media
Production and Customer Service – in addition to eight years of experience as a qualified
Naval submarine sonar technician.
Miles’ educational background is primarily in adult and career education, focusing on technical
skills development for adult learners. As a video game/film/music enthusiast, he has made
a personal effort to develop skills and complete certifications to produce more immersive
learning experiences for our soldiers and sailors.
Andrew Madsen is a Novonics Instructional Systems Designer with a background in immersive
environments, instructor-led training, online interactive courseware, SCORM, eLearning standards,
and much more. After an Honorable Discharge from the United States Marine Corps at the rank
of Sergeant, Andrew pursued a BA/BS in Management of Information Systems, a Graduate Certificate
in Instructional Simulations, and a MA in Instructional Systems (expected Summer 2011). In
addition to Andrew’s education and military service, Andrew has gained over six years experience
as an Instructional Designer with United States Government and blue-chip companies. With desire
and knowhow, Andrew continually strives to improve instructional products, processes, and
organizations.
Brian Boscarino Serves Novonics Corporation's Orlando office as a Digital Media Specialist,
with duties including 3D modeling and animation. Formally trained at Universal Studios Orlando
at the Digital Animation and Visual Effects School. Brian has worked with Emmy award winning
directors on projects inlcuding motion capture, large scale studio green screens, live ation
sets, television studios, and live event production. Also creating digital content for several
Walt Disney parks world wide. Brian brings his 3D expertise to the Novonics table introducing
an ever growing and advancing 3D skill set to advance the Novonics Corporation to the next
level.
Nanci Hughes is the Administrative Assistant to the Orlando Operating Center of Novonics Corporation
for the Southern Division, located in Orlando, Florida. Nanci has over 18 year’s administrative
experience in the Corporate environment. Nanci came from Northrop Grumman and was the Division
Manager’s Administrative Assistant for the last 13 years, and was on the Corporate “DES Newsletter”
Team for 3 years. Nanci handled all the HR in-processing of employees in the Orlando Division
of Northrop Grumman, for over 80 employees.
Christopher Taylor serves Novonics Corporation’s Orlando office as a Software Engineer. His
experience consists of seven years as a media artist and eight years as a programmer/web developer;
including development of computer-based courseware and various web-based administrative tools
for the US Navy and designed two publications for a bass fishing company. Chris has a 2 Bachelor
of Science in Industrial Technology (Graphic Arts) from Western Illinois University, a Bachelor’s
Degree in Computer Information Systems from the University of West Florida, and a Masters
of Science in Computer Information Systems from Nova Southeastern University.
Andre Andrews is a senior software developer with a Bachelors of Science degree in Computer
Information Sciences and over 15 years experience in computer-based training. Andre has years
of experience working with such technologies as ASP.NET, VB.NET and C#.NET as well as Microsoft
SQL. Andre is also experienced with such tools as Flash and Flex. He is also proficient with
standardizations such as SCORM and section 508 compliant coding standards.
Al Osle is an avid developer in Microsoft and Adobe technologies, Mr. Osle, brings to the
table 16 years of experience in controls development, assembler logic to expedite data scrub
and mining, Web tools that enable RAD development , and an agile approach to making end users
happy with their application needs.
Greg Cason brings almost 20 years of experience in the computer-based training industry to
the Orlando Office. Greg has worked in almost every capacity, including artist, animator,
programmer, manager, and instructional systems designer. He has supported all branches of
the military and several prominent commercial clients during his career. At Novonics, Greg
is primarily responsible for designing and managing training products from the front-end analysis
to the evaluation of the finished product. He holds a M.Ed. in Instructional Technology and
a B.A. in Education with a minor in Computer Science.
Sean Butler serves the Orlando Operating Center as an Instructional Systems Designer. Sean
has three years of instructional design experience, along with 15 years of experience teaching
college-level English classes. Prior to joining Novonics, he was the visiting Assistant Professor
and recipient of the Walter E. Barden Distinguished Teaching Award at Rollins College, and
he has also been a Course Director, Education Design and Media Technology at Full Sail University
and Senior Training Analyst at FPMI Solutions, Inc.
Sean earned his Doctorate in Rhetoric and Composition from the University of North Carolina,
Master’s Degree in Literature at the College of William and Mary and Bachelor’s Degree in
Politics from Washington and Lee University.
Heather Armstrong serves Novonics Corporation's Orlando office as an Instructional Systems
Developer. With four years of experience, she has designed and developed instructor-led training,
web-based training, computer-based training, and computer-aided instruction. She has also
participated in a requirements analysis and trade study. She has worked for numerous federal
and private clients, including AgustaWestland, Department of Homeland Security, Joint Strike
Fighter, and the military. She earned a B.A. in Psychology at the University of Central Florida,
where she served as a Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant, and is currently pursuing
graduate education at UCF.
Ryan Hamoud serves Novonics Corporation's Orlando office as a Software Engineer. His experience
includes a wide range of software development skills including the latest technologies in
web development such as FLEX. Previously, Ryan was a software engineer for the United Space
Alliance (USA). He developed and maintained web-based and pocket PC applications to monitor
the safety and performance of USA employees during space shuttle processing operations. Overall,
he has nine years of experience in his field. In May 2010 Ryan earned his MBA from the University
of Central Florida, and he holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science.
Jeff brings five years of professional instructional design experience and three years of
teaching experience to the Novonics team. His experience includes the design and management
of computer-based training programs, testing and installing electronic classrooms, and training.
He has a master’s degree in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix and is currently
working toward a master’s degree in Instructional Systems with the University of Central Florida.
Jeff has a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education, with a specialization in mathematics,
earned the Comptia A+ certification, and is a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE).
Paschal Aquino serves the Orlando Operating Center as a Management & Program Analyst. For
the two years prior to joining Novonics, Paschal was a program analyst/systems engineer for
CVN 21 (Future Carriers) program training efforts at Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems
Division (NAWCTSD). He has 14 years of on-site Department of Defense (DoD) support, including
seven as support staff for the Defense Modeling & Simulation Office (DMSO) and four years
with the Navy Bureau of Medicine & Surgery (BUMED). Additionally, he spent four years as Corporate
IT Manager/IT Specialist for a private multidisciplinary consulting company working primarily
with the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) and the Orlando International Airport.
Paschal has a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration from George Mason University.
